  • U.S. economy added 533,000 jobs during the first three months of the year

What do we need to analyse ?

-To keep pace, job creation would need to accelerate in April
-Watch which sectors of the economy are adding jobs.
-Flirting with Full Employment
-Average hourly earnings
-The participation rate … its been a bit of a puzzle

First quarter’s gross domestic product figures for the United States and they’re not looking good

We have the first quarter’s gross domestic product figures for the United States and they’re not looking good. On an annualised basis that growth was only 0.7%, well down from the 2.1% of the preceding quarter. And to be honest about this it just doesn’t sound right. Or perhaps to give it the correct amount of seriousness, it doesn’t taste right.
