We have the first quarter’s gross domestic product figures for the United States and they’re not looking good. On an annualised basis that growth was only 0.7%, well down from the 2.1% of the preceding quarter. And to be honest about this it just doesn’t sound right. Or perhaps to give it the correct amount of seriousness, it doesn’t taste right.
